BOOKING INFORMATION
£10.00
Join a panel of speakers at Crafts Council Gallery for a discussion about the role of craft in shaping English identity and culture, ahead of a year-long programme exploring and critiquing the subject in depth. The event marks the launch of Crafts’ Spring/Summer issue, and is followed by drinks.
About
Join the Crafts team at Crafts Council Gallery for a talk that will set the scene for a year-long programme called ‘This Country’ exploring the role of craft in shaping English identity and culture – past, present and future.
A panel comprising Gus Casely-Hayford, director of the V&A East and Crafts’ editor at large; textile artist Corbin Shaw; and designer, educator and researcher Shai Akram will consider the often thorny relationship between craft and heritage in England, and the ways in which we can think afresh about it in a changing world – chaired by Crafts editor Debika Ray. Join the discussion, hear more about the upcoming programme, and stay for the celebration afterwards to launch the Spring/Summer 2024 issue of Crafts, where you can meet the team behind the magazine, as well as some of its contributors, featured makers and fellow readers. Gold and Silver Crafts members attend for free.
