About
Get an insight into how the Michelangelo Foundation is supporting the next generation of craftspeople in a talk given by Alberto Cavalli, Executive Director of the Foundation, and Catherine Rénier, CEO of Jaeger-LeCoultre. Together, they will introduce the Foundation’s new education programme, Homo Faber Fellowship, and the reasons behind its creation. Discover what makes it unique for both master artisans and emerging talents, and hear about Jaeger-LeCoultre and the Foundation’s shared vision for the future of craftsmanship.
The seven-month programme offers a life-changing training opportunity for aspiring artisans looking to build a career in craft and master artisans who wish to pass on their skills and grow their businesses. The first edition, launched in September 2023, benefitted 20 duos of master artisans and fellows.
Reflecting on Homo Faber Fellowship 2023/24, a panel discussion will invite some of the talented young artisans to share their experiences of time spent in a master’s workshop, their approach to the Art Deco inspired co-creation project and thoughts on the transmission of craft skills. The international fellows spent six months in the workshops of their paired master artisans across Europe, following a month-long creative and entrepreneurial masterclass developed and certified by ESSEC Business school and Passa Ao Futuro at Joana Vasconcelos Studio in Lisbon.
