About
Nikole Tursi is a London-based Argentinian artist specialising in millinery and craftsmanship. She is fuelled by an immense passion for redefining traditional techniques. Her artistic journey began in Argentina, where she ingeniously navigated limited millinery and couture resources by embracing unconventional materials and tools. This pivotal period, intertwined with her work experience at the Teatro Colon Opera House, profoundly influenced her aesthetic sensibilities and laid the foundation for her unique approach to artistry.
Tursi seamlessly incorporates diverse art forms such as painting, sculpture, embroidery, beading and experimental textile manipulation techniques into her creative process. Driven by the interplay of materials and their transformative potential, and an unwavering belief in infinite possibilities, she combines craftsmanship, artistic expression and innovation to create high-quality, bespoke pieces that push the threshold of creativity.
Her visually striking pieces transcend conventional fashion and exude a sense of movement and growth. Tursi\\\’s creations know no bounds in terms of shape, material, and volume, leading to exceptional works of art that can be both worn and admired.
In recognition of her exceptional talent, Tursi was awarded the ‘Mi Oficio, Mi Historia\\\’ prize in Argentina in 2019 by the Comité Colbert (France), with the support of UNESCO, the Vice Presidency of the Nation, the Argentine Crafts Programme and the Federal System of Media and Public Content. This prestigious acknowledgement not only showcased her work but also served as a catalyst to expand her artistic horizons.
Honoured as a Crafts Council talent, Nikole was selected for their HOTHOUSE 2020 programme and in 2021 she proudly joined the British Hat Guild, dedicated to the promotion and preservation of the art of millinery. In 2023, she became a distinguished member of the renowned Michelangelo Foundation, which supports master artisans creating objects of true excellence.
