About
Gabriella Rhodes is an artist and facilitator living and working on the Llŷn Peninsula, North Wales. Her practice is land-based, using locally foraged or repurposed earth material to create sculptures that embody the deep histories of the ground beneath us and fosters a reciprocal existence with the living and non-living world. She graduated from Manchester School of Art in 2018 with a BA (Hons) in Three-Dimensional Design and since then, has evolved her practice to deepen her understanding of the intersection of art and the environment. She has exhibited nationally, and has recently been selected for upcoming group exhibitions with Wondering People at London’s Nunnery Gallery and Artistiaid Ifainc Cymru at MOMA Machynlleth. She is the recipient of grants and residencies with Guldagergaad Ceramic Research Centre (Denmark), A-B Projects (Los Angeles) and most recently received funding from the Arts Council of Wales to attend the 2023 Natural Building Festival in Estonia to develop her material understanding of clay and to participate in the wider discourse around ecological creative practices and material circularity.
Gabriella Rhodes will be a part of HANDS exhibition curated by Wondering People at 8 Holland Street from 13th- 19th May
