About

Wondering People is a thoughtfully curated art collective that sources original and editioned works by British and international artists. Their process of finding artists is slow and intuitive, hoping to feed a sense of escapism through the discerning artworks, each chosen for their distinctive aesthetic and approach.

8 Holland Street is a gallery and design studio specialising in 20th century British art and modern European furniture. Founded by Tobias Vernon, 8 Holland Street showcases a dynamic series of exhibitions alongside an extensive collection of modern and contemporary artworks, vintage luxury furniture, ceramics, rare textiles and lighting. Their galleries are located in characterful buildings rich in history in central London and Bath. 8 Holland Street creates a place that champions playful and collectible furniture and art. The gallery has been featured in Architectural Digest, House & Garden, New York Times T Magazine, World of Interiors and Vogue.

Wondering People is exhibiting a curation of contemporary craft in art at 8 Holland Street’s flagship gallery in central London. Their collection brings together a curation of mediums including textiles, ceramics and paintings, by artists such as Italian textile-maker Maddalena Zadra. Her work touches upon aspects of the tactile, the sensual and the playfulness, referencing cross cultures and historical periods as a means of storytelling.

British plaster-cast maker Alexander Griffin creates evocative sculptures inspired by natural artefacts chosen for their architectural and sculptural form. The maker’s principal attraction to plaster is the potential for ‘chiaroscuro’ in different lights, and their sense of history transports the viewer instantly.

Maker Gabriella Rhodes lives on the Llŷn Peninsula, North Wales. Her practice is land-based, using locally foraged earth material to create sculptures that embody the histories of the ground beneath us and fosters a reciprocal existence with the living and non-living world.

American artist Andrew Pierce Scott uses discarded fabrics and overlooked textiles. Cutting and sewing found scraps back together to create one-of-a-kind tapestries, the artist transforms waste into compositions that honour and elevate the mundane.
