Learn how to make at least four different brushes using arenga, tampico and broomcorn fibres in this workshop with The William Morris Society. Experiment with using different colours of hemp and nylon cord for binding and gain an understanding of how to tie different styles of brush, such as the turkey wing or hawk tail designs. Delve into the history of brush making and the types of fibre used.

Please note that brush making is surprisingly physical, so you need a reasonable amount of dexterity in your hands and feet. You might like to bring some warm socks to wear as you work with your shoes off!
