Christian and Andreas Müller are the Managing Directors for MÜHLE, a shaving brand, established in the German Ore Mountains in 1945. A hub for craftsmanship, the company was founded there in a simple laundry room by their grandfather Otto Johannes Müller where he made shaving brushes.
Christian first began working at the MÜHLE Manufactory in 1993 at the age of twenty where he helped his father with various tasks like bookkeeping and operations. Christian also learned the meticulous craftsmanship required for brush-making: from weighing the fibres or hairs for brush bundles to moulding, tying, and securing them to beautifully crafted handles. Today Christian serves as a Managing Director for the company along with his brother Andreas, overseeing new production methods, collections, and designs. Now a thriving workplace with green roofs, sustainable materials, and high-quality vegan alternatives MÜHLE remains a close-knit family business in its third generation with a team of seventy-five employees bringing together traditional craftsmanship and modern technology.
This year at London Craft Week Christian will provide a live demo on Thursday May 16th on brush-making, using MÜHLE vegan Silvertip Fibre® at the MÜHLE Store in Carnaby. He will work alongside an exhibition he has prepared with the team showing the process of brush-making from design concept, to materials and assembly and will be available for some Q&A.
