About
Opened in 2011 by Director Ryoko Mutasono, 和組 wagumi is a place to find craft and design from Japan.
Stocking the work of regional producers, individual artists, design collaborations and not for profits, wagumi highlights the variety and fun to be found in things made in Japan. The result is a flawless showcase of craftsmanship and design, symbolising the essence of Japanese spirit. The wa (和) in wagumi means “peace” and “harmony” and Gumi (組) can be translated as “team”.
Wagumi’s Kintsugi workshops at Oxo Tower Wharf are a long-running and popular feature of London Craft Week and return for 2024. Kintsugi allows broken ceramics to attain a beautiful afterlife. Offered in two formats, the workshops offer a simple introduction to Kintsugi, or more bespoke advice for individual pieces. Tickets available via wagumi-j.com
