About

With a heritage tracing back to 1905, Wenxi’s cheongsam story spans six generations of her family.

A graduate from the Institute of Design in Chicago, she has a diverse background in Design & Strategy Consulting. Passionate about immersive learning across different cultural contexts in Europe and North America, Wenxi thrives on sparking innovation in multiple industries that align with business needs and resonate with people.

Returning to China in 2018, she reconnected with her family’s cheongsam business and traditional Chinese craftsmanship. This inspired her to launch her own brand, FayWeaver, in Shanghai in 2021, where tradition intertwines with modernity in a blend of timeless and borderless elegance.

As intangible cultural heritage and a time-honored brand of Wenzhou, FayWeaver is committed to ensuring that tailor-made cheongsam revives as a timeless beauty of modern life. Cheongsam tailoring is never bound by a rigid formula; instead, it adapts like water, complementing diverse body types and personalities. The design of FayWeaver applies a wide range of craftsmanship and techniques, from traditional Chinese silk, such as Jacquard Lou and Gambiered Canton Gauze, to PET-recycled handwoven Nishijin and Antibacterial Lycra, from Chinese hand embroidery to thermal transfer printing. From classic silhouettes to daring reinterpretations in new fabrics, each piece of work by FayWeaver reflects the diverse values and preferences of its inclusive audiences: women, men, children, and even animals.

Wenxi believes cheongsam is not only a cultural symbol but also an ever-evolving piece of attire that resonates with today’s values and lifestyles. “Innovation isn’t about forgetting the past. I’ve been to many places to understand different people and solve complex problems. Now, I want to return to the beginning, to understand my family and together create delicate, touching, and joyful beauty,” she says.
